| Awww, man. Books always pwn movies...although it is true I have read one or two SW novels (not based on the movies, mind you) that were mediocre; I know writers here on this site who could have done a more outstanding job. But LOTR? Dude; Tolkien's the king of fantasy. | |

| I'm aware, yet I have not read his books, and frankly don't intend to until senior year where I have to read LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring | |

| I'm going to have to step in on this one...Tolkien was the king of fantasy. While he did great things and practically forged the genre, his styles have since become so duplicated that they are now cliche'. If Tolkien is still the king then I am all for staging a coup. The genre is largely populated with hacky/less skilled writers than it once was.
Books like The Name of the Wind by Pat Rothfuss are what I would love to see more of. Or Fire Bringer by David Clement-Davies. Or the Last Unicorn... All of which are phenomenal works that are greatly overlooked. I vote Pat Rothfuss for new king of fantasy. | |

| In a sense, I agree with you, Dark; there have been far to many rip-offs of Tolkien's work by a lot of 'me too'ers copying the forms and not the creativity. However, that fact makes Tolkien himself no less brilliant in my mind, and I have yet to meet an author who has come close to replacing Middle Earth in terms of detail, elegance, balance, and mysticism. Aaand, we are now waaay off-topic. I'll post another random pic up to move things back where they should be. - Spoiler:

| DB, that pic's a hoot! Something tells me you are a fun guy when you get your party on. And now for the reason for the post. I have just come by a Top Secret image of what AnonyMouse ACTUALLY looks like! This was apparently just after his last transformation from being AnonyMoose. | |

| Choose an office job carefully! What Roo is doing woulda probably gotten me canned at my last office job. Depends how obsessive your boss is, I guess. But this isn't the 'complaining about work' thread so carry on. | |

| lol.. yeah, my boss is pretty cool. we have a new big boss dude (military is always big boss and most have no sense of humor) that i don't know how he is gonna take it, but our last big boss guy would come to work in flipflops and shorts, soooo, a little ketchup wars with an ensign is perfectly fine. anytime someone gets transferred in, it takes a while for them to 'warm-up' to our laxness. and HQ is altogether appalled by how we act (bosses will walk down the hall cussing up a storm when they're mad, meetings are like comedy-fests and since there's only two of us females i can say it does get a bit raunchy in that room). but then, we are the most efficient office of ALL field offices (we do twice the work with 1/3 of the people)... however, in about 2 weeks, we're getting transferred to another building with a bunch more different people. those in higher positions will still go around cussing in the halls, but we low peeps might have to tone down things... that's why i had to get one last one out there after the atom bomb from the coworker, i went with mayan temple.... - Spoiler:
