The windscreen was ruined; the tank couldn't offer shelter to any of its occupants with it like that. Not that much else could. If the scryers had just done that to the wall god knows what would happen to the tank. The gate wasn't fit to act as a point to hold off them now and add to that with the fire and damage going as it was any tanks that were there would probably cause after explosions as their fuel cells went up. He hadn't risen from his feet when a man slide through the hole in the windscreen.

"Hey, you're that dude who drove my rescue tank..."

What were the odds that they could pick up this many of that mission? He didn't have a chance to reply before the man had moved to embrace one of his old friends and then he explained what had happened. So they had been betrayed from inside just as he feared and by someone high up to. That meant either military or politicians or royalty. No the last one was stupid besides he'd have known if royalty was there. Military didn't tend to be known as big wigs so that meant politicians.

"We need to get out of this thing and get inside now! We'll stand a better chance in a building."

Couldn't argue with that as the rest vacated the vehicle he moved over to where the fuel cells were kept and removed them before pocketing them in his webbing next to some pulse grenades. He'd seen what Dre had done with them last time and if his tank was useless now he was going to salvage something out of it and make sure no one used it without him or that his tank wasn't responsible for taking out the nearby apartment block if it got targeted and the fuel cells went up. He punched out some more of the windscreen to allow himself an easier exit and turning round to drag the rail gun out. He could feel anger boiling inside of him as he stared out in front of him. He was taking as many of these bastards down as he could and when he went... his hand swept over the grenade pouch where he'd stored the fuel cells he was taking as many of the ****ers with him. He didn't know if they felt suffering like they did but he intended to give a go at teaching them.

Foster had once again appeared with a smaller team this time. They looked roughed up. They'd had a head start on them to the gate they'd obviously been closer to the carnage. As he got a firm grip on the rail gun he moved over to Foster. "Good to see you’re still alive and kicking. Everyone's fine, the tanks a write off for this situation." he looked over as some men piled into a domed apartment building. "Best get in there before any more bombs drop and make our stand as best we can."

Tim looked up to see Ark coming out of the tank's windshield.

"Back at you Ark, good to see a friggin SNAFU is on our hands. Those bug bombers aren't the only problem neither, we got Kobolds, lots of them, we'd stand a better chance in a building than out in the open."

Chance? The moment the defences had gone down they had no chance. Keep morale up though even if those around you knew that was all you was doing. Right now Ark interpretted the word chance as 'it'll buy as a few more minutes of life'.

Kobolds... that was just the first wave he didn't even want to consider what would be coming next. He just preyed there wouldn't be Freshers he'd fought one of them and that had taken out their tanks on its own and had been a gruelling battle where he got the trophy of his rail gun. They operated alone. Let's hope their experience in small scale conflicts still aplied to large scale deployments.

"We're hold them here as long as we can then. Let's hope they're care about their troops if we're lucky when they reach us they might just not have bombed the building we're in." We're just have to fight off Kobolds as far as the eye can see... best to not add that bit of commentary stick with the positive side.

A few soldiers had moved to the back of his vehicle without permission and started looting the remaining ammunition and rifles to add to their cache and equip the civilians that had decided to stay behind and offer their assistance. Best they got used anyway and if they were in the same building as him he was sure it would pay off that or their deaths would buy them some time when they had to retreat or kill off what ever was killing them. The darker side of his soldier mentality disgusted him but he knew that was just the way war was.
